.: Liz Lynne MEP (Liberal Democrat - West Midlands)

Approached  Liz Lynne MEP  on  6th July 2008 via e-mail with a letter of introduction and again on 10th July 2008, also via e-mail,  with an apology for technical site problems.

On 14th July 2008 we received the following, via e-mail:

Dear Ms Woods,

Thank you for your recent email concerning the problems being faced by live-aboard sailors.  I share your concerns that many European citizens will be forced to abandon a centuries-old tradition of life at sea.

Please find attached a written question that I have tabled to the European Commission.  I will write to you again when I receive a
response.

Yours sincerely,

 Liz Lynne MEP

The  contents of the attached document were as follows:

QUESTION TO THE COMMISSION

Is the Commission aware of the problems faced by European citizens who live permanently aboard sea vessels in European waters?

Safe anchorages, which have been marked on navigational charts for centuries are disappearing and high fees are being demanded for anchorage. Stays of the visiting boats are also being restricted to a only a few days.

What is the Commission intending to do to ensure that many European citizens are not forced to abandon a centuries old tradition of life at sea?

We replied to Ms Lynne on 14th July 2008, via e-mail, as follows:

Dear Ms. Lynne,

Re: Free Sea Pass Campaign

Thank you so much for your support and for acting so promptly in tabling a question to the European Commission.

The UK needs more politicians like you.

Best regards,

Linnet Woods - Co-ordinator
