NEWSLETTER - AUGUST 2008

.: Welcome!

Thank you for looking in! It's holiday time and we hope you are having a splendid time, wherever you may be.
We are at anchor in the bay of Palma Nova, Mallorca, watching thousands of holiday-makers enjoy the blazing sun on the beaches and trying not to melt away...

.: Latest News

No news is good news, or so they say... This being the summer recess for politicians of all hues, there is not, at the moment, a vast amount to report of a very recent nature but there was a fair amount of correspondence with MEPs after the July newsletter and before the recess...

.: Hearing from MEPs around the UK

Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP, Liberal Democrat for London, was kind enough to respond to our e-mails, as were Erica Hope on behalf of Dr. Caroline Lucas MEP, Green Party for the South East Region; Danny Langley on behalf of Chris Davies MEP, Liberal Democrat for North West England.

We also heard from Camilla Bougrine on behalf of Edward McMillan-Scott MEP, Conservative for Yorkshire and Humber, Chris Loudon on behalf of Elspeth Attwooll MEP, Liberal democrat for Scotland, Giles Chichester MEP, Conservative for South West England (and son of the great sailor Sir Francis Chichester).

Graham Watson MEP, Liberal Democrat for South West England and Gibraltar got in touch, as did  Stuart Gulleford on behalf of Jeffrey Titford MEP, UK Independence Party for the Eastern Counties;  Robert Evans MEP, Labour for London and Henri Colens on behalf of Timothy Kirkhope,MEP, Conservative for Yorkshire and Humber.

A list of the MEPs contacted so far can be seen here.

.: Writing to Cruiser's Websites

Unfortunately, summer is a busy time for us in other spheres of our lives, so there has been no spare time available lately for making contact with many cruiser's websites but we have been receiving feedback from various individuals around the Internet on the subject, agreeing that the problem is spreading, and we found an interesting comment on a blog, too...

.: Volunteers

Marie Fabre de Balanzo, aboard 'Goha', and her husband have had to take a break from working on the translation of the site into French and Spanish as they have arrived in North Africa and will be busy for some time. If anyone else can help, we'd be very grateful to hear from them.

.: New Members

Welcome to new members around the world and especially to the gentleman who has asked to remain anonymous but who was kind enough to let us know that he had e-mailed all his cruising friends and suggested they visit the website and participate. That's the spirit!

Well, that's it for this month - we look forwards to telling you all our latest news in September. Hope you're still enjoying the summer!
