WHAT IS THE FREE SEA PASS?

The Free Sea pass does not, as yet, exist but we are proposing the creation of a pass, to be issued only to live-aboard cruisers (people whose only residence is, and has been, a boat for a minimum of two years) enabling them to stay in anchorages and/ or mooring buoys for free, or at a greatly reduced fee, and for longer periods than are usually granted.

The Free Sea pass might look something like this:

E.E.U.

FREE SEA PASS

  No: 000341
Issue Date: 00/00/0000

Issuing Authority: ES/012/12
Name: Linnet D.A. Woods
Date of Birth: 00/00/0000
Country of Origin: UK

The issuing authority could keep a database of Free Sea pass-holders and, perhaps, include the boat name of the pass-holder so that the pass could not be abused by, for example, a pass-holder taking a seasonal job as a charter skipper and trying to use the pass to obtain free or cheap moorings/anchorage for the charter vessel. A pass-holder would then need to inform the authority when moving from one permanent floating home to another.
